Charging an EV from an apartment car park is completely solvable — but it fails when an owner asks the body corporate for 'a power point by my park' with no plan. What committees approve is a proposal that answers three questions: whose meter pays, what happens when ten owners want the same thing, and who owns the maintenance. Typical per-park installation runs $2,000–$4,500 plus GST depending on distance from the metering room, and shared load-managed systems bring the per-owner cost down as more join.

The three questions every committee asks
Who pays for the power? — The clean answer: the charger feeds from YOUR apartment's meter, or carries its own sub-meter. Nobody subsidises anybody; the argument disappears.
What about building capacity? — One charger rarely matters; ten do. A load-management plan (chargers share available capacity, slowing at peak) future-proofs the building and is what turns a grudging 'one-off exception' into a policy.
Who owns and maintains it? — The owner owns the charger, an agreed electrician standard covers installation, and the CoC sits in the body corp records.

Can I just trickle-charge from a car park socket?
Existing common-area sockets are on the body corp's meter — that's everyone else paying for your driving, and buildings shut it down fast. Do it properly once.
What speed of charging is realistic in a car park?
7.4kW where capacity allows; load-managed systems may run slower at peak and full speed overnight — which is when apartment cars charge anyway. Overnight is what matters.
